She's looking around

Her eyes get more blue everyday

"Don't look at my Eczema!"

Napping on Mommy

This is what happens after a stoller ride or a trip in the car.
Mallory is growing so fast. She is up to 9 lbs as of Friday. We had a pretty good week. However, early in the week we noticed some bumps on her face. We all assumed it was what they call "Baby Acne" But soon we noticed it was tiny bumps all over her face, neck, arms, and legs. By Thursday night it was on her torso area as well. So I took her to the pediatrician on Friday. Turns out she has Eczema and had a severe outbreak going on. We have some medicated lotion to put on her for a week that seems to be helping a lot. But after that we have to only bath her in Cetaphil and use the Cetaphil lotion. Boring, no sweet baby smell for our little one for a while. Eventually we will be able to switch but will always have to use something mild on her skin. We also talked to the pediatrician about her crying spells. She spends every moment she is awake in the afternoons and evenings crying at us. Unfortunately for us it is a case of typical baby evening fussiness, and the inability to self sooth. The pediatrician said that babies nervous systems don't develop as fast as the rest of them so they get easily overtired and overstimulated in the late afternoons and evenings. She told us we needed to start swaddling her during the day time naps to help her get a more restful nap and that will help with the over tired in the afternoons & evenings, but time will be the most help. It has helped just a little but our evenings are still a little rough. We have started taking evening walks when we realize she is tired again. This puts her right to sleep and there have been a couple of times when she wakes up when we get home that we have pushed her around the kitchen. Don't laugh, walking around the kitchen for 20 min is much better than a screaming baby. We hear if she is average we only have a couple more weeks. The good news is she is great during the mornings. She has begun to play on her play mat for about 10 min at a time. She still loves it outside and will be content out there for about an hour. Otherwise she likes to move around and be held while she is awake. She has been smiling at us a lot more. It is so cute when it happens. We aren't sure if she really knows what or who she is smiling at yet, that will be a great day when we realize she is really smiling at us.
As far as our week went, I took Mallory to visit my office on Thursday. It was great to see all of them and introduce her to them. She was great for them and they were able to pass her around and all get some snuggling. Then Friday night Mark and I decided we needed to get out of the house for dinner. We fed Mallory, put her in her car seat and headed to the restaurant. She did not fall asleep in the car (as she typically does) so we grabbed a buzzer for the wait, got back in the car, and proceeded to drive around for the next 25 min until she crashed. Then we went back to the restaurant and only had to wait another 10 min to be seated. She slept right through dinner ( and it was sooo loud in this particular place) and we were able to not only avoid the evening crying session but also got to enjoy a nice dinner out.
