Napping in the swing with my lovey
This week we have had a bit of drama. Mallory's eczema had started to flare up again and by Monday night she looked like she had raw spots all over her body. Almost like burn spots. I felt so bad and called the Pediatrician. She told me that the protein in dairy and soy causes the eczema to flare up. We had given her formula that was heavy in that protein during the day. So they gave us a couple of sample cans of a different kind of formula. So thinking nothing of it, I made her bottles for the sitter for the next day. I was using half formula and half my milk. So I got a call from the sitter and she absolutely would not take the bottle and was very upset. So I ran over there and tried and she wouldn't take it from me either. So I ended up feeding her myself. So the pediatrician suggested I syringe feed her some formula in an effort to get her used to the taste. So I did that and by the next day at 6 she took a small bottle of just formula. On Friday she took a full bottle of formula from the sitter. So this weekend I decided to try and combine a bottle again in order to see if she would take it. But NO...she doesn't want the bottle with half and half. She will only take straight my milk or straight formula. So that is how we are going forward. She will get one formula bottle with the sitter and one bottle of my milk. Her skin looks better (but we have been using the medicated lotion as directed by the Dr) and we have noticed a slight change in her personality. We are thinking that maybe the other formula was also upsetting her tummy a little because she is so calm and happy all day (not that she was fussy before) it is hard to explain, she just seems different. So by the end of the week we should know if it is making her eczema better.
This weekend we had friends in town that we haven't seen in a while. My good friend Niel came in from New York and my friend Marian was here from Ireland. They got to see all of the new babies in our group of friends. Brady was born in April, Lawson was born in June, and Mallory of course was the 4th of July. It was funny to see all those babies in 1 room. But it was really great to see them and spend time with them. We haven't seen Neil since before I was pregnant, and Marian in 2 years. We had a great time.
Today we went to the pumpkin patch. Hailey and JC were there and she wanted to hold Mallory in the pumpkins. She loves her. This week Hailey has decided that Mallory is her Baby Mallory. When Mark goes to pick her up, Hailey tells him "No Mark that's MY Baby Mallory" It is so wonderful that she loves her so much, because we love the Nugget so much too!
